| | Believe it or not, this all began as a hobby. I’ve accumulated most of my stock by working flea markets, doing auctions, making the rounds of dealers, listening to various collectors and pseudoexperts, and relentlessly pursuing leads through blind alleys, up dead-end canyons, down creepy-crawly basements, and into earwiggy attics. Gradually, I began to trade in old books & records - not to mention hoarding them as well !
As my avocation, I’m going to continue scouting, quoting through the mail, booksearching and dealing in vinyl. They’ve always been an enjoyable pastime. Setting up this virtual shop seems to be the next logical step. With the aid of web bibliophiles and record buffs, I plan on utilizing my priceless (!) experience and vast (??) knowledge for fun and profit, as they say. Like other methods - fairs, snail mail catalogs, etc., it has its advantages and disadvantages. But ... I love a challenge!
Now that I’m retired, I also have the time to garden in my garden, dream in Technicolor and read Fredric Brown. I hate shoveling snow, putting the cats out for the night, and rap music. Most of all though, I still enjoy getting out my golden oldies and playing them - especially if they're turned up loud! And the funny thing is, after all those years hustling, my favorite amusements have turned out to be collecting, reading and listening!!!
When I stop and think about it, I’ve also had lots of fun chatting with my fellow aficionados and finding out interesting things from them about old books & records - then passing on the info. So, if you have news that you want to share, or have a puzzling question that you’d like answered - send me an e-Mail, and I’ll try and answer it or at least post it on my FAQ page - but please .. not the Spanish Inquisition!
Oh ... by the way. I check my e-Mail only once a day [usually in the silent hours], and less than that if I’m indisposed or on vacation, but I will try to acknowledge all messages sooner than later. |
