Care of Your Fine Art Shack Gallery Prints
by Lar Shackelford - Texas
Keep them away from direct sunlight, and long term high humidity. Harsh elements can fade and effect even the best quality fine art prints.
Keep your art and photographic prints in a photo album or plastic photo storage box that is acid free. Archival sleeves are also available at many craft stores for storing large fine art print collections that are not being displayed.
If at all possible, do not touch the top of your print as fingers can contain elements which might degrade a print. Perfumes, some soaps, and as well as residue from hand lotions might be problematic from your hands.
Scratching can occur even with your finger nails. Some photographic and art papers show scratches very easily so be extra careful. Handle all your art prints and photographs with a gentle touch, to help preserve them.
When framing your prints, ask the framer to be careful, too. The sooner your print is framed the better protected it is if you plan to display them. Many fine art collectors prefer protective glass for framing.
The temperature on the interior side of the wall differs from an exterior side. This condition may cause condensation to form on the inside of the glazing or within other elements of framed artwork. Condensation may lead to mildew or mold in humid climates.
Check your artwork during dusting for molds and mildew. Moisture may cause crackling, staining, and warping of artwork, whether paintings or prints.
I'm happy to do commissioned works at reasonable prices. My Ebay store has a variety of works on hand ready to purchase or for bidding.
Thanks for your interest in my art, I hope you enjoy it! Fine Art Shack FineArtShackGallery.com
