Set your own price by making offers and remember that we always combine shipping! We do charge GST/HST/QST to Canadian buyers.
For more information about the various Canadian stamp issues please see my blog located at www.canadianphilately@blogspot.ca. Here you will find many detailed posts that provide information about the stamps not found in standard postage stamp catalogues. You will also see that I follow a point-based grading system for all my material. This system is fully explained on two of my custom store pages, which you can access in the navigation bar to the left of your screen.

Frequency of New Offerings

I became a full time stamp dealer in July 2015. I am in the long process of listing all my inventory in sequence. Currently, I am listing the King George V material, which I expect to have completed by May or June 2016. At that time I will be expanding my listings to Queen Victorian Lagos, Niger Coast Protectorate, Northern and Southern Nigeria. Once this is done, I will list the remaining post world war II Canadian material. Finally, I will resume listing Nigeria and the remaining countries in British West Africa, being Gambia, Ghana, Gold Coast, Morocco Agencies and Sierra Leone. If you subscribe to my mailing list, I will ensure that you receive an e-mail notifying you each time I add new items to my inventory.

Shipping

I will always offer combined shipping on multiple purchases. I want to keep the shipping costs as low as possible so that you can spend your money on stamps, which will bring you more joy in the long-run. I do offer registered shipping, but my invoices will default to standard letter mail, unless you tell me in advance that you want me to send your stamps registered. I cannot be responsible for loss of an item once it has entered the mail system. So if you are concerned about this risk, registered mail is definitely the way to go. All shipments are sent in stiffened envelopes and the contents are protected from moisture with cling wrap. I use regular stamps on my mail so as not to attract undue attention in the postal system. If you want me to use commemoratives then you should notify me in advance and I will do my best to accomodate you.

Returns

I offer a completely unconditional return policy on all the stamps and covers that I sell, provided that the item is returned to me in the exact condition that I sent it to you.  I will pay for the return shipping.

Certificates

I do not generally offer certificates with my stamps, unless they came with a certificate when I bought them. If you obtain a certificate on an item that I have sold you that turns out to be a forgery or reprint, when I described the item as a genuine original, I will accept the return and refund your purchase. If you want me to obtain a certificate for you, that can be arranged, provided that you let me know in advance of purchase.

Pricing

My pricing is based on the prevailing market demand for these stamps, which in turn is completely driven by their rarity in the condition which they are being offered here. As I explain in my page dealing with condition and catalogue values, stamp catalogues, such as the Scott catalogue are only intended as a guide, and while they are generally fairly reliable for the grades that they are pricing, their values are not at all realistic when it comes to pricing higher or lower grade items. For a complete discussion refer to my pages explaining the relationship between grade and value as well as the pages describing my grading system.

Descriptions

In describing stamps I often use the Stanley Gibbons Stamp Colour Key to describe colours, which will in many cases differ from the catalogue description of a particular colour. I will generally place the common catalogue name for the colour in brackets within my description. For measuring perforations I use the Instanta gauge, but will also quote the measurements rounded to the nearest 0.1.

My Background

I have been a philatelist for 38 years. During this time I have formed and sold many collections. In my professional career, I have managed the mail auction of a well known Canadian stamp auction firm.   In this capacity, I have handled hundreds of collections and thousands of individual stamps, including many rarities. It is this experience that has enabled me to truly appreciate the immense rarity of high quality classic stamps. However, I also understand that many of the modern issues are scarce and as deserving of attention as the classic stamps.

I decided to become a full time dealer because I am passionate about Canadian and British West Africa stamps and I want to bring you an in-depth selection of these stamps such that you can specialize in any issue and be assured of having a reliable source from which to acquire new items for your collection.

It is my hope that you will find the experience of shopping in my store to be an interesting and rewarding one.
