How to tell if an email is actually Authentic
If you receive an email that appears to be official that requests sensitive personal information, be cautious. The email may be a "spoof" or "phishing" email. The people who send these fake emails hope that unsuspecting recipients will reply or click on a link contained in the email and then provide confidential information including passwords, social security numbers, or credit card numbers.
Checking for legitimate messages
The easiest way to verify whether an email is from where you expect is to check your messages. If the auction management really sent the message, a copy of it will appear in the Messages area of your account.
To check your messages:
- Sign into your account.
- Click the top of the account page and click the Messages tab
