I have been in business since 1995 and until about 7 years ago I operated my own small gift & craft business offline with my best friend. Unfortunately, I became very ill and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and had to completely rethink my life. In the process, I was introduced to ebay by a friend and found that it actually offered some wonderful opportunities for those who were unable to be gainfully employed in the work force outside the home.
After some coaxing and proding, I listed my first few items. Some woodworking patterns I had acquired but really had no intention of completeing in the first place. But then again, one person's jumk is another man's gold. So with that in mind I thought I'd give it a try.
I have never looked back. I was having so much fun and I didn't even have to leave the house, which was also becoming a very large problem all on it's own.
I found myself in a situation where I could barely walk and was using a wheelchair or 2 canes and had to do so for about 3 years. I was becoming more house bound than I was able to deal with and I was becoming depressed at what the future looked like as well.
All of a sudden, things settled down and the M.S. actually went into remission which is where it is still at today. However, I stll have my bad days too, but they are bound to happen for anyone. That's where it can stay as well.
Anymway, it didn't take long for the process of selling to became so much fun that I decided to open a small store just to see what would happen, and that is where I am today.
I plan on expanding the store to include many more patterns and perhaps a few other items as well. I hope you will enjoy shopping at Smocking Patterns. I do strive to be the best I can possibly be, so with your help, we can be one of the best stores on ebay.
With that said, I hope to see everyone again soon and please take some time to drop by the store and take a peek. Who knows what you might find.
Also, if you have any suggestions regarding the store itself or some product(s) to put in it, don't hesitate to let me know. I am open to all ideas and suggestions that you might have. All items listed are brand new unless otherwise stated within the specific listing. If you are unsure, please email me for confirmation of this.
Some items are shipped by me here in Guelph, Ontario, however, there is also a large number of these items that are being handled by drop shipping to you directly from the suppler or designer. This allows me to be able to keep my prices lower and shipping times shorter as well.
If this is unacceptable to you, then please don't purchase from me. I am trying to make this work for you as well as myself. It is giving me a small income while allowing you the opportunity to purchase items that haven't been easy to find for a number of years now.
Smocking was thought to be a dieing craft, but I have proved that there is still a market for this beautiful craft and I wish you well in your future products and hope things become all that they can be..
Please allow approximately 2 weeks MINIMUM for delivery from shipping date, however, it can take as many as 30 days to arrive. Please try to be patient and allow your order enough time to get to you as I have no control over customs, the postal schedule or their delivery time frames.
